Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced nursing care for patients in an institutional setting. This role focuses on treating acute, episodic, chronic, and psychiatric illnesses and disorders in high-risk/high-acuity inpatient environments. You will work with agencies such as the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and others, delivering exceptional care and, in some cases, supervising other healthcare staff.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of physical and mental health for patients, families, and groups.
- Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and psychiatric conditions using advanced clinical skills.
- Utilize risk screening and developmental assessment tools to evaluate patient needs.
- Develop and implement care plans to ensure the best patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
- Supervise and support healthcare staff as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in assessing and managing physical and psychosocial health.
- Proficiency in physical and mental health assessments for normal and high-risk patients.
- Knowledge of risk screening and developmental assessment tools.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in high-acuity environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to support patient care and team collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master’s or doctoral level.
- Clinical experience acceptable to the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
- Prescriptive authority as required by the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act (Section 40-33-34) for applicable positions.
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.
